Help with Anxiety

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

Anxiety can be very debilitating, and it can feel that your anxiety is more in control of you, than you are. With anxiety, the 'fight or flight' response, which is activated in times of danger, can be triggered when there is no danger present. Using breathing techniques can help let our body know it is not in danger and bring down our feelings of anxiety.

This technique is called 'square breathing'.

Breathe in while slowly counting to four.

Hold that breath in for the same count of four.

Slowly breathe out counting to four.

Hold for another count of four.

Then go back to the beginning and start the in-breath again.

Do this for a few 'rounds' and see if you notice a difference in your anxiety levels.

Counselling can help you explore what is causing your feelings of anxiety and help you understand them. I can help teach you techniques to deal with situations and together we can explore the best way to help you cope with anxiety. Please get in contact if you'd like to book a session.
