Pet Bereavement
Pets play such an important role in our lives, whether they are our companion through life or part of the family. The loss of a pet can be devastating. The grief can be complicated. You may feel that other people don’t fully understand, which can leave you feeling lonely and unable to express your true feelings of sadness and pain for fear of being dismissed or judged.
Feelings of guilt and self-doubt
You may have had to choose to end your beloved pet’s suffering. This can leave you with feelings of guilt and self-doubt. You may worry you made the decision too soon, too late, or you may be oscillating between both thoughts.
Talking to a counsellor can help you make sense of these feelings. Having someone to talk to who understands the depth of your feelings and is trained to support you through loss. Whether it’s a beloved pet that passed away months or years ago, or having to make the difficult decision to end a pet’s suffering. You don’t have to do this alone; help is available.
