There's more to grief than sadness

Grief can be exhausting. We might expect to feel sad, tearful and unhappy. But we probably don’t expect to be so tired that a staircase feels like a mountain, become so forgetful we forget to pay for our shopping or get lost somewhere we know well or find small decisions such as what to watch on TV difficult to make and generally feel that you we are going mad.


Grief can take up so much of us, that there is very little left, to get on with daily tasks. This is why we can be exhausted, forgetful, indecisive or feel mad. It is not something that we can fight but understanding why this is happening can help us to manage our feelings.
